Return and Refund Policy
Last updated: July 12, 2026
This Return and Refund Policy describes how cancellations, substitutions, and refunds work for orders placed through the Wayne Liquor Locker storefront on 1800 Spirits in New Jersey.
1. Customer self-cancellation (pending orders only)
You may cancel an order yourself only while the order status is “pending” (before the merchant has accepted it). Once an order is accepted or progresses further, self-service cancellation is no longer available in the customer order view.
When a valid pending cancellation is processed, you receive a full refund of the order total. There is no restocking fee and no cancellation fee for a valid customer self-cancellation of a pending order.
If payment was authorized but not yet captured, the authorization hold is released. If payment was already captured, a full refund is issued through Stripe to the original payment method (timing depends on your bank or card issuer).
2. Cancellation after acceptance
After the merchant accepts an order, cancellation is at the merchant’s (or, in some cases, platform admin’s) discretion and may be limited by fulfillment status. Orders that are already out for delivery with a third-party courier generally cannot be cancelled through the standard merchant cancel flow.
When a merchant or admin cancels an eligible order, the platform issues a full refund or releases the payment hold, as applicable, and inventory may be restocked.
3. Out-of-stock items and substitutions
At checkout you may choose how the store should handle unavailable items, including options such as: contact you first, allow a customer choice / replacement workflow, or refund the unavailable item.
If an item cannot be fulfilled, the merchant may propose a replacement through order chat. You can accept the replacement, choose another option where offered, or request a refund for that item. If a replacement costs less than the original item, a partial refund may be issued for the difference. If you choose a refund for the item, that item’s amount is refunded.
If you do not respond to a substitution request within the time window set for that request, the platform may automatically refund the item or apply another fallback configured for that request.
4. Failed or undeliverable deliveries
If a delivery cannot be completed — including when the recipient cannot present valid ID proving they are 21 years of age or older (New Jersey’s legal drinking age), is not available, or the delivery is otherwise returned to the store — the order may be returned and a refund issued.
In failed-delivery situations involving a third-party courier, a return delivery fee may be deducted from the refund. Any estimated return fee shown at checkout is an estimate; the amount deducted may be based on the courier’s return fee for that delivery.
5. Delivered or picked-up alcohol
Because New Jersey Division of Alcoholic Beverage Control (ABC) rules and related state alcohol regulations restrict returns of alcoholic beverages, we generally cannot accept returns on delivered or picked-up alcohol products, except where required by law or where the merchant confirms a documented fulfillment error.
If you believe you received the wrong items or a fulfillment error occurred, contact the store promptly using the details below so the merchant can review the order.
6. How refunds appear
Refunds are processed to the original payment method through Stripe. Bank or card statement timing varies by issuer and is outside 1800 Spirits’ control.
